Illy

Coffee Cups

For over thirty years Illy Art Collection has celebrated beauty through works by international artists.

Since 1992 the illy Art Collection has been telling the world about small art objects, transforming coffee into an aesthetic experience. Each collection is a creative journey that enriches the coffee ritual with unique and fascinating designs.

Luca Trazzi collaborated with Illy to enrich and personalize the Art Collection project.

TRAZZINE

Illy Collection

Fish, Crocodile, Turtle, Ladybug, Gears, Fire The liveliness of this collection, the bold colours, the cartoonish subjects, are ideal for playing down the seriousness of the day.

These cups were conceived as cheerful parentheses in which to enjoy a moment's break in the company of a coffee.

Nocturnal, psychedelic and full of unexpected flashes, the Trazzine emerge from the unfathomable depths of blue. They are images of rest, like the night, where no shouting and no other presence can distract the coffee drinker from the private taste of the moment. The liveliness of the subjects and colors typical of cartoons, which characterize the pop side of contemporary art, explodes in the trazzine in a merry-go-round that takes place around the concept of circularity. Images that play down the seriousness of everyday life and make fun of each other, provoking each other in an inviting pause.

Venexia

Illy Collection

With Venexia, Trazzi once again demonstrates his sensitivity in respecting the Venetian culture with great humility—something that to less discerning tourists might seem like merely the Hollywoodization of what remains of its past splendor. Indeed, in addition to subtly referencing the most immediate icon of Venetian culture by replacing the cup handle with the recognizable figurehead of a gondola, he uses a name so meaningful that it becomes, like the title of a Ungaretti poem, an integral part of the endeavor.

The architect from Veneto succeeds in profoundly understanding and interpreting a cup, rather a series of cups Gold, Platinum, White, for the Biennale Visual Art exhibit 1997, to which Illy Caffè contributed as a sponsor.

In this way VeneXia commemorates the thousand-year history of Venetian culture and what remains of its past splendour.

Beach Plaza

Illy Collection

The Illy collection cup Beach Plaza succeeds in combining the pleasure of an espresso with the dreamlike image of a tropical beach.
