Dandelion

Gallerie d’Italia Milano

The Dandelion installation is made with steel spheres and polychrome discs and was designed for the spaces of the colonnade of Palazzo Anguissola and the Giardino di Alessandro, on the occasion of the Salone del Mobile 2018.

Dadelion gives continuity to the theme of the previous year's installation entitled Poesie di neon, a dedication to lost love, suggesting its background, i.e. the dream of the beloved, conveyed by the image of the dandelion.

The Project

Spring flower, the dandelion, which turns into soft down when it fades, entrusts its seeds, its future, to the blowing of the wind, spreading the desires of children and young lovers. The idea of a fugitive youth is therefore linked to the dandelion, which expresses the immature hope, the humid sigh of crying for a thwarted love, but also the longing for a sunny season, a rebirth.

This vitalistic aspect of the flower has always led man to recognize in it an invitation to confidently let himself go to the flow of life, to the breath of what is apparently guided by chance.

Walt Whitman remembers him: "simple, fresh, gentle emerging at the end of winter almost never if there were no artifices of fashion, business, politics, from the sunny corner, nestled in the grass - golden, innocent, like the quiet dawn , the dandelion, the first of this spring, shows us its trusting face".

Therefore, illuminating the shower heads in the evening which come alive with natural light during the day means keeping the energy flow always active and allowing the public's thoughts to spread and flourish elsewhere, perhaps in Manzoni's Garden.

In fact, right there other dandelions sprout, witnesses of the author of The Betrothed's passion for botany, much less known than his passion for writing.

The installation, with its elements, is therefore a carefree hymn to life and Spring and characterizes the solemn spaces of the Gallerie Italia headquarters with a note of lightness, inviting anyone who passes by to free their desires so that they can fly .
